Security Breach: Steve Wynn’s Something Very Special

Las Vegas is like a shark. It has to keep moving, or it’ll die. That means Las Vegas has to keep the surprises coming, and it always manages to do just that.

Steve Wynn isn’t one to rest on his laurels, and from the look of the atrium area in the Wynn Las Vegas lobby, he’s got some surprises on the way.

Construction walls are such a tease.

These construction walls seem to have sprung up overnight. This blog loves it some construction walls.

Here’s another angle.

Pipe and drape it, baby.

How do we know there’s something special on the way? Because Steve Wynn says so, that’s how.

Unlike many casino executives in Las Vegas, when Steve Wynn says something is special, it's likely to actually be special.
Unlike too many casino executives in Las Vegas, when Steve Wynn says something is special, it’s likely to actually be, you know, special. This is the guy behind Bellagio, mind you.

One more look before we breach security and see what’s behind the walls.

We snooped around, and got some unconfirmed scoop about what’s coming. Apparently, this is the third time in the last nine years that the atrium area has undergone a significant retooling. There are two areas being improved, one on each end of the hotel’s atrium area.

Here’s a peek behind the wall, through the only opening.

This is where the something special will reside.

Like we said, this work is rather new, so there’s more tearing down than building up at this point. What’s being built? We hear there are going to be two art pieces. One will be an air balloon (in the space shown in the above photo).

On the other end of the atrium, we hear there’s going to be a replica of The Strip’s new High Roller Ferris wheel. Here’s the wall. Did we not mention how much we like construction walls?

Part two of the Wynn's atrium enhancement.

We expect the new additions to the Wynn Las Vegas atrium will be executed with the Wynn’s usual flair, including enough flowers to give a team of horticulturists hernias.

No access point on this one, sorry.

We were assured the atrium’s famed ficus trees, more than 50 years old, will be unaffected by the new construction.

Construction walls are like birthday gifts that sweaty guys in hard hats unwrap for you.
It’s like the Las Vegas version of “2001: A Space Odyssey.”

Wynn’s atrium is a great free thing to see in Las Vegas, and it should be even better soon. We look forward to whatever Steve Wynn has up his perfectly-tailored sleeves.
