Park Theater to Be Renamed Dolby Live at Park MGM (Dolby Theater)

Signs for the Park Theater at Park MGM are coming down, telegraphing an upcoming naming rights deal.

Park Theater is dubbed “Dolby Theater,” according to permits filed in June 2021, but we hear the formal name will be Dolby Live at Park MGM.

People will call it the Dolby Theater.

It’s on the left.

Huge thanks to Twitter follower Fernando D. for digging up the digital permits showing the planned name change.

Plans also call for an interior remodel of Park MGM, although no description of the work is provided.

News releases are so 2006. We have the Internet.

Dolby’s name being on the Park Theater isn’t random, as the theater was recently decked out with a Dolby sound system, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Dolby is a great fit for Las Vegas because the company’s logo looks like two boobs about to get into a cat fight. You should see the results of our Rorschach test.

Naming rights deals, of course, can be very lucrative.

MGM Resorts, owner of Park MGM and Park Theater, already has naming rights deals for T-Mobile Arena and a much lamer one, Michelob Ultra Arena, the name of what was previously called Mandalay Bay Events Center. At Mandalay Bay. Please keep up.

There’s no word on when the Dolby Live at Park MGM (Dolby Theater) naming rights deal will be announced, or what the deal will cost Dolby. There’s a chance this was, at least in part, a trade.

MGM Resorts had better at least get a big-ass woofer out of the deal.

“Interior remodel”? They going to try to make it even more soulless than they did in the transition from Monte Carlo to Park MGM just a couple years ago?

That’s what I was thinking, interior remodel ?
Because if they want to spend money for something to be remodeled they need to get busy on the walkway bridge outside of the Bellagio shopping . On our visit last week I was kind of stunned to see the condition it is in.As far as cracks and chipping and chunks out of it . Dirty ,along with graffiti in black marker . Obviously they do not maintain it . Very unsightly and off putting as far as wanting to return to that area .
It occurs to me that MGM not being the actual owner (right?) as I can’t keep up 🙁 may not be in charge of keeping it maintained & cared for but whoever is responsible should !

Thank you . I remember reading about the escalators and didn’t even think about it regarding the walkways .Boy, someone should be calling the county everyday for all the good it may do because it definitely needs cleaning up .

Agreed. You’d think that both MGM and Ceasar’s Entertainment would be insisting that the County keep up the walkways. They are, as you know, the main way most folks enter their properties.

Yes exactly Jackson . Because even though the county is responsible it still reflects badly on MGM & Caesar’s . I think there probably are others thinking as I did that it’s MGM’s property and wondering why they allow it to look like that . Yep indeed we were on our way to Caesar’s.

Ok now this is just stupid. The park name goes with the whole park next door where T-Mobile area sits. It’s like renaming the Park MGM to Dolby Hotel Casino & theater. This is just a horrible move on MGM resorts.

Not stupid. It’s genius. It’s free money for the MGM.

Is anyone going to say: “Oh, wait. Never mind, I’m not going to purchase a ticket to see because they renamed the theatre.”

My brother in law had the trash can at the Golden Nugget valet parking area named after him, he calmly hurled an entire Hugo’s dinner into it, then hopped into a cab with us and flipped off people during the cab ride… We always pose next to it for pictures… He taught me the next morning that you need grease for breakfast if you have an epic hangover, he downed a patty melt and made a miracle recovery…

There is a great deal of room for improvement in sound quality in the theater. The last Aerosmith concert 1 1/2 years ago was constant distortion. This may be being done to pay for the audio fix. Perhaps we have now come full circle to the re realization that the majority prefer themes for the resortitecture as opposed to the cold and uninviting City Center and Park MGM starkitecture. Resorts World also feels a bit cold especially with virtually all hard seating surfaces. I predict seat cushions and warmer decor in Resorts World future.
