Bacchanal Buffet is Back at Caesars Palace on May 20
It’s been a tough year for Las Vegas buffets, but now Caesars Palace has announced its acclaimed Bacchanal Buffet will reopen May 20, 2021.
This is great news, as it’s a symbol of the Las Vegas rebound coming out of the recent unpleasantness.
For months, there’s been some question as to whether Las Vegas buffets will return, and some definitely won’t, including Golden Nugget’s and TI’s.
During an earnings call, Caesars Entertainment CEO Tom Reeg actually seemed to say buffets were done. Reeg mentioned buffets at Caesars Entertainment resorts in Las Vegas lose an average of $3 million a year while implying the day of loss leaders are done.
That said, we’re get our Bacchanal back!
Bacchanal Buffet is the rare buffet that makes money, but the future of other buffets at Caesars Entertainment casinos, and other casinos in Las Vegas, remain in doubt.
Cosmo’s Wicked Spoon and South Point’s Garden Buffet have been the only two buffets that continued to operate during the pandemic. And it was Bizarro World versions of the buffets, with attendance doling out the food.
All indications are Bacchanal will reopen the way we remember buffets, a great sign others will return in similar fashion.
Adding to the excitement about the reopening of Bacchanal is the fact the buffet has gotten a $2.4 million renovation. The renovation was planned prior to the pandemic.
Bacchanal promises 30 new dishes, which is remarkable given the buffet’s menu was already dizzingly massive.
New offerings include dim sum-style food carts that will roam the dining room with weird-ass dishes like foie gras PB&J, spicy seafood boil bags and Japanese wagyu hot dogs.
Other new dishes include turmeric-grilled baby octopus with XO chili jam, cheeseburger bao, chipotle bourbon barbecue oysters and duck carnitas quesadillas. We also expect there to be some dishes we might actually like.
We kid because we love.
Bacchanal will also have more plant-based and vegan items like quinoa-stuffed baby sweet potatoes with fried kale, tomato tartar and coconut-carrot gazpacho.
Wow, they’re batting a thousand in creating a list of foods that sound like they’re the result of someone losing a bet.
In better news, Bacchanal’s Mediterranean and Asian kitchens have been “re-imagined” with updates ranging from “a new mezze bar and Roman-style pizza to a wider selection of Southeast Asian flavors featuring Laotian, Filipino, Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese specialties.”
Bacchanal’s desserts have always been world-class, and they’ll include earl grey mousse, salted caramel popcorn, yuzu tart, ube chiffon cake and more than 10 gelato flavors.
So, so much to love, so little time.

Prices for the new-and-improved Bacchanal Buffet haven’t been announced yet, but we trust they’ll be similar to what they were prior to the pandemic, or in the $55 (weekday dinner) top $65 (weekend dinner) range. Lunch will be around $35.

Fair warning: Please don’t get between us and the dessert station. We have a lot of pent-up gelato demand.
